Chairperson Miriam Gogarty recently presented President Mary McAleese with "Emma's Tree". The President was very impressed with the wall-hanging and said that it will hang in her home in Roscommon for Christmas.

A pattern for making "Emma's Tree" is included in the Winter Issue of the IPS Newsletter.

Octagon Quilters 20th Anniversary Exhibition. Custom House Studios, The Quay, Westport, Co. Mayo. July 7th - 31st
Hands Across the Border Exhibition. Theme: Dreamcatcher. On exhibit September in the Visitors Centre, Phoenix Park, Dublin
IPS National AGM 15th October. Preliminary notice of AGM. Talk by visiting quilter Philippa Naylor.

It will also include a fabric postcard exibit and I am happy to say that many members of my Art4Mail postrcard trading group will have postcards in the exibit along with postcards from all over the world. To learn more click here.

2 postcards I received

the blue postcard was created by Samantha Conklin, it is her rendition of a Van Gogh. It is 3 demintional and constructed very well. I really like the depth and her interpretation. this postcard was from a swap we did in Art4Mail called PotLuck. She has done a wonderful job of making me feel nice and warm and ready to take a swim...

Postcard #2 was created by Debby Wolff she uses allot of felt and is really good at what she does. this Art4Mail swap was called snow scene and she surely captured the dark windy snowy night. Just looking at it makes me feel chilled. the white felt swirl in the sky really looks like the wind just blowing away. and the Moon is filled with many gorgeous colors, which I believe are the nothern lights. I love this card.

Victorian Santa Christmas 08

this santa was made by one of friends Kathy Middleton, he is gorgeous, I fell in love with him, he used to set in one of the rooms of a bed and breakfast she ran, since i liked him so much she decided to give him to me. I just love him. thanks Kathy.....

Emma's Tree

This tree is made in memory of lovely young girl, Emma who died at a very early age of breast cancer, when Emma died her youngest daughter was only 18 months old. It happend right before Christmas that Emma's mom designed Emma her very own Christmas tree, thus Emma's tree, so now these trees are being made everywhere and swapped and just showing all the love people have for one another. I'm sure Emma is just beaming upon her little star. They reside in Ireland and I met Emma's mom, Miriam, through a postcard group and now shebelongs to my fiber art group art4mail.

a friend of mine, Ann Francis made this gorgeous mosaic quilt, all by hand, each one of those little squares is only 1 inch then folded to 1/2 inch and sewed on. I've started one. LOL
